iHomework was established in 2014, in partnership with local youth and Valley Youth Partnership for Engagement & Respect (VYPER). VYPER is a Health Canada Drug Strategy Community Initiative to create pathways for youth and young adults to move from isolation to a sense of belonging in their communities.
Since 2014, has grown in impact and partnerships, serving over 60 individual youth
per year and partnering with: Telus, BC Responsible Gambling, Yale First Nation,
Grace Baptist Church, Fraser Health Unit, YMCA, Fraser-
iHomework is innovative because it was designed by youth, for youth, and is continuously renewed by youth needs and input.
iHomework provides a safe place for students in grades 7-
Youth expressed desire and need for further community programming addressing their mental, physical, emotional and spiritual needs. RRS is passionate about giving youth a voice and empowering them. Therefore we expanded iHomework to include social programs. Through guest speakers and specific programs, youth are mentored in healthy relationships and character building.
Social programs change based on youth needs and have included:
(universal values respect, honesty, courage, love, truth, humility, and wisdom)
(coping strategies based on the indigenous medicine wheel)
(youth exploring & giving back to the community)
(social media, consent, respect)
(Youth Rights and the Law)
(confidence and self esteem)
